Not only are these resin fillings more attractive than older metal amalgam fillings, but they are stronger and safer as well.

Sometimes a tooth is too decayed or damaged to permit repair with a filling. In these cases, a crown is often the answer. A dental crown, or cap, is simply a shell that fits over the tooth to strengthen and protect it. In the past, most crowns were made from metal, causing people the embarrassment of "metal teeth" when they smiled or laughed. Dr. Hoffmann can fit a patient with a crown made of porcelain or resin that is color-matched to the surrounding teeth. The procedure is similar to that involved in placing porcelain veneers – three visits are required, in order to ensure that your questions are answered and the measurements are precise. When finished, the crown will be nearly undetectable, yet provide protection, strength, and beauty to your smile for years to come.
